- Take a walk around the block to change your focus
- Sit quietly and take 12 slow breaths in and out through your nose
- Call a friend or relative who is a good listener and tell them how you are feeling - this can help to change your perspective; you can also ask for help
- Eat a snack if you are hungry
- Take a short nap if you are tired
- Write about the stress you are feeling – this can also help to change your perspective
- Make a list of what you are grateful for
- Get regular exercise, such as walking, hiking or bike riding
- Play some music that is fun and encourages you to move!
- Drink water at regular intervals during the day
- Eat 5 – 6 small meals a day: Less stressful on your digestive system and your metabolic rate increases
Procrastination may be caused by tasks that are overwhelming you
- Break big tasks into smaller, more manageable ones
- Brainstorm with someone – bounce around different solutions
- Stagger the more difficult tasks in between the tasks that are more pleasant
- Set small, manageable goals
- Reward yourself after accomplishing a goal
